BIRTH STORY
I went into labor on my own with Landon following a mile long walk Aaron and I took at Harry Myers park on Friday, September 21st. I remember I had been feeling contractions up to that point, but about an hour after we took our walk, the contractions began to feel a little different...and more painful. By Saturday morning they had become more intense and I was wanting to go the hospital. However, I didn't want to jump the gun and get turned away too soon. By noon on Saturday we began to make the 30 minute drive to the hospital. After being checked once we got there, I was dilated to a 1-2 but was almost fully effaced. They gave me a shot for the pain and sent me home after a couple of hours of observation. Of course we were disappointed, but at least I was able to get some relief for the next few hours. We came home and took it easy the rest of the day. My parents brought us dinner on their way to meet up with some friends. We began timing my contractions and their intensity using a chart Aaron made on the computer. After a relaxing bath I crawled into bed with my pencil and chart. Around midnight, the pain had returned and was too intense to get any sleep. I woke Aaron up and asked that we go back to the hospital. At that point I didn't care if we got turned away again, I just wanted the pain shot! I also said that we weren't going to call anyone unless I was admitted. Sure enough, after being checked, I was completely effaced and was dilated to 5 cm. I was finally admitted and we called our parents around 2:30 a.m. Around 11:30 a.m. I was dilated to 10 cm and we decided to start pushing. Landon's large head and the position he was in (his head was facing sideways) was making it difficult for him to descend in a timely manner. After 3 hours of pushing, it was decided a c-section would be necessary. I had started running a fever and the doctor was also concerned about Landon's heartrate. Up to that point, my mom and Aaron were in the delivery room with me. Things moved pretty quickly after this and I was so exhausted that the details between this point and the time I returned to my room after the surgery are pretty hazy. I am thankful that I was awake enough to hear my sweet Landon cry for the first time! What a precious moment! Landon was born with an infection that required him to remain in the hospital 3 extra days after I was released to receive antibiotics through an IV. One of the hardest things I've had to do is leave that hospital to go home for the first time without my baby.

SPECIAL MEMORIES

February 20, 2010
THE SCENE: Reid is crying in the playroom as it approaches time for his morning cereal. I am in the kitchen preparing said cereal when Landon comes up to me.

Landon: "Joo, Joo?"
Mommy: "You want some Juice?"
Landon: "Ok!" This is Landon's way of saying "yes."
Mommy: "Well, you're going to have to wait just a minute because mommy is making the baby's cereal."
Landon: Singing, "Have patience, have patience, don't be in such a hurry..." While his words weren't as clear as they are written here, I knew exactly what he was singing!

June 26, 2010-You went to see your first movie, Toy Story 3, with mommy and daddy. You ate popcorn, punch and fruit snacks! I think you really enjoyed it!

January 9, 2012-Today you picked out your own clothes for the first time. You've been able to dress your self (mostly) for a while now but you just went in there and got some pants and a shirt all on your own...You were so proud! Granted, you had on Reid's pants and at first your shirt was on backwards, but you fixed it right away! :)
