Has This Ever Happened to You?

You're in a back bedroom putting away the laundry of your sweet, perfect little child when all of sudden you hear some rustling in the kitchen? You walk in there to find something that looks like this...
It was hard to get upset because it was actually a little funny. After all, I'm the one who left the box on the floor next to the trash can to be thrown out so I guess I was asking for it! It was snack time anyways! :~)

A Busy Saturday

Today was a busy, but fun-filled day for the McGrew’s. It started off this morning with our ABF Easter party and egg hunt! We had so much fun! Landon was more interested in throwing the eggs around than actually collecting any in his basket. We’ll keep practicing for next year!

I'm pretty sure Landon took this egg from sweet little Katelynn....I'm also pretty sure that after this picture was snapped he took the other one from her!

This is one of our attempts at a kid's group picture!

After we came home and had a quick lunch, the boys rested while I went to a bridal shower for my good friend, Sara. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend her wedding this July in Colorado as it will be too close to Reid’s arrival and I won’t be able to fly. I came home and found the boys in the backyard playing and enjoying the beautiful, warm weather. Landon was cracking himself up throwing the ball to Dusty over and over. He thought it was the funniest thing ever!
After some outdoor fun, we enjoyed a nice dinner from Schlotzsky’s (for the second night in a row). Both nights our sandwiches have been yum yummy!!
During dinner, Landon was being so cute giving us the sweetest smiles and giggles....

But then he did this....

After dinner, we (and by we I mostly mean Aaron) worked on Landon’s new big boy room. Tonight is Landon’s 1st night to sleep in his new room and crib! We think he's going to enjoy it! It’s a lot more spacious than the nursery. There are still a few more things I would like to do, but here is a peek at what we have so far.

A Moment to Brag

Landon had his 18 month check-up yesterday so I'll start off with some stats.

Height: 31.5 inches (25th percentile)
Head Circumference: 49.5 cm (90th percentile) That's one smart kid!!
Weight: 22.6 lbs. (10th-15th percentile)

I was concerned about that last one, but our dr. assured us that at this age toddlers start to come into their stature that they are destined to be as a kid and pre-teen. He said Landon's genes have probably determined him to be a thin kiddo. Aaron and I were both pretty skinny kids so I guess it was bound to happen! The dr. said we would actually be doing him a disservice if we tried to "fatten" him up! And the boy can eat, so that's not a concern! :) My first bragging moment came at the end of Landon's appt. He received one shot yesterday and did not make a peep!! He flinched a little but that was it! My little boy is so tough!!

Landon does not have a large vocabulary yet, but he is sure proving that he understands so much these days! My next bragging point is how Landon is so mild-tempered (most of the time). He doesn't go to time-out often but when he does, he usually sits there on his own for the whole time without crying. A few times I've even told him to go sit in time-out and he will go and sit down all by himself! If he picks up something he's not supposed to (remote control, cell phone, etc.) and we tell him to go put it back, often times he will. He has never hit or bit anyone out of anger. He goes down for naps and to bed at night without any fuss! Every now and then he gets frustrated if he can't work a toy right, but for the most part he doesn't throw tantrums.

Yesterday, Aaron and I started doing some spring-cleaning in preparation for baby brother and Landon just went from room to room wherever we were and "helped" us. I realize that things could change at any time as Landon grows, but for right now we feel so blessed to have such a sweet and calm spirited child, who isn't perfect, but is an absolute joy to be around. Now, should I be concerned about baby Reid?? Guess we'll see!

The 23rd

The 23rd is a special day for our family. In the month of July, it is the day of our wedding anniversary. In the month of September, it is the birthday of our first-born. Today, the 23rd is special for 2 reasons. The first is that it represents the halfway mark of this pregnancy (20 weeks). The second is that our sweet Landon is 1 ½ years old! In the first year of a child’s life each month marks a new milestone because of how quickly they change and grow. Then, when they reach the middle of their second year it’s an exciting occasion as well. I know after Landon turns 2 it will only be once a year that we celebrate his age and how much he’s grown! To commemorate our day, we took a family trip to Chuck E Cheese! I don’t know who was more excited, Aaron or Landon! MiMi met us there for an early dinner and some fun! Those of you who’ve spent some time with Landon know how serious a kid he is, however, he really enjoyed the kiddy rides and I’ll let the pictures show just how much this boy can laugh and smile! I love you sweet Landon and you will never know how much joy you bring to your Daddy and I every single day! :~)

What's in a Name?

We’re excited to announce the name we have chosen for our second son. We are passing on Daddy’s name to little Aaron Reid. However, to avoid much confusion around the house, we will call him Reid. I know Landon will be such a wonderful big brother to baby Reid and we can’t wait to meet him soon! I became little Susie Home-maker today and made some cookies to celebrate our growing family!
