Since the new year started, I haven't posted anything about what's been going on with the McGrew Crew due to finishing up posts about our trip! So I'll start with....Happy New Year! Our 2011 started off getting adujsted back to Texas time, and thankfully after a few days we were back to normal! While nothing major has happened in the last few weeks, I'll catch you up on a few things!
Home Sweet Home
Back in July, I made
THIS post about putting our house on the market. After almost 6 months, 38 showings, and A LOT of stress, we have decided that it is not the time for our family to move. This process was very hard and was taking a toll on our family. For our own sanity, we needed to pull it from the market for a while. We feel that we will probably re-visit selling our house in a year or so but I can't tell you how much relief we have already had after taking this large task off our plate! There were several factors that went into this decision and we are happy to stay here for just a bit longer! :)
Oh, Boy!
Our sweet boys have dealt with a few illnesses/injuries the last few weeks. Landon had a nasty virus that kept his temp around 103-104 for several days. Thankfully, he didn't test postitive for strep or the flu so we're thinking it was a virus, but it definitely hit him hard for a few days! About a week after this, Reid came down with an ear infection and RSV. Several days after this diagnosis, Reid took a nasty fall in the playroom (that neither one of his attentive parents managed to witness) and bit his tongue pretty hard. It was several hours later that we noticed just how bad he had cut it which led to a late night emergency room visit to ensure that he didn't need stitches. Thankfully since it didn't go all the way through, the ER doctor decided that while it was a pretty deep cut, stitches might only increase his chance for infection. Just some antibiotics and soft foods for a few days!

I kept this picture small to avoid offending those who don't like gross things. If you're into that sort of thing, you can click on it to make the picture bigger!
Snow Days
Last week we had several days of snow, ice and temps in the teens! While it was exciting at first, entertaining 2 toddler boys inside for 4-5 days can become quite the chore! Even though we might have been able to brave the streets and get out a bit, the extreme temps kept me from wanting to get the boys (who had both been sick) outside! However, we did have to take a few moments to enjoy the 9 INCHES of snow we got last Friday! Unfortunately, the boys didn't seem all that excited about it. I think it might have just been a little cold for them and living in Texas, we don't exactly have the most appropriate clothing for playing in the snow!
BELOW: I love this picture of Reid because you can see his hand prints in front of him where he first kind of tripped and put his hands in the snow. It was a little hard for him to walk in it.
The big boys got creative and decided to pull out the kayak to "sled" around.
And then they got really creative and tied it to the back of the car! I must admit, it was fun!
Thankfully, we were able to spend some of our iced-in time with the
Meltons. These pictures below are actually from a few weeks ago, but they were too cute not to share! :)
Aaron got some new boots for Christmas and the other day Landon decided to see what it was like to walk (or maybe just stand) in his daddy's shoes!
