Tummy Troubles

The stomach bug has hit our house....again! I know it was a few months ago when we were all sick but now that it's here again it seems like just last week! A few days ago, we woke up to Reid crying at 2:30 a.m. and found that he had thrown up in his crib. The next morning he threw up a little bit again and then that was the end of it. I'm hoping that was his stint of this bug because he has been OK since. He's been quarantined  to MiMi and Grandy's for the night. Unfortunatley, Landon and Aaron have not been so well today! I knew Aaron must be sick when he turned down a Chic-fil-A breakfast this morning and I knew Landon was sick when he tossed his cookies all over the produce aisle at the grocery store. It was a very humiliating mommy moment! I pray that they both get to feeling better soon and HOPE I can stay healthy to take care of them!

I did wipe down this toilet, but Landon kept running to it when he felt the urge to "spill" (as he called it).
Thankfully, even though Landon hasn't been able to keep food down today, he's still been in a pretty good mood. This evening, we were playing with play-dough while trying to keep quiet and let Daddy rest. I rolled it all up in a ball and gave it to him. He then got his plastic knife, made a small line down the middle and proudly exclaimed, "Landon made a hiney!" Gotta love his creative imagination! :)

Saturday Morning Sous Chef

On Saturday morning Landon was wandering around the house looking for something to keep him busy. He stumbled across his cute little apron given to us by a friend of my Mom's. He insisted that I put it on him and then, on his own, got his stool from the bathroom and placed it in front of the stove. He stood on top of it and proclaimed, "Landon cookin'!" It was so cute that I had to stop what I was doing and find a little cooking project for him. I quickly found an easy playdough recipe online and he got to work.

Every now and then he got distracted by the Veggie Tales show on TV.
Don't forget to clean up!

Playdough Recipe

1/4 cup salt
1 cup flour
1/4 cup water

Mix salt and flour in a bowl. Mix in the water. I ended up having to add a little bit more water as we stirred. Choose a food color and knead it into the dough. Keep it in a sandwich bag to maintain moisture. Add a little water to it if it begins to dry out. I also read that you can add flavored koolaid for fun scents or glitter to make it shimmery! There are many recipes for playdough online but this one used the least amount of ingredients and didn't require the stove. I thought it turned out great and Landon really enjoyed "cooking"!

The Tooth Fairy and More

Due to our recent incident, Landon lost his first tooth much earlier than expected. I never thought I would be introducting the tooth fairy at such a young age. I have to admit that I really wasn't planning on doing much about it, especially since Landon didn't even know he was supposed to recieve anything for losing a tooth. But, after several people asked me if the tooth fairy had visited our house, I started feeling a little guilty. After all, Aaron and I already felt guilty because of the WAY he lost his first tooth. It certainly wasn't natural, but because mommy and daddy wanted to take a jog one Saturday evening and didn't think to check the wheels of the jogging stroller. {This particular stroller has a removable front wheel for easier storage. This might better explain such a bizarre accident! We recently bought it used and were not famliar with the logistics. In short, check your stroller wheels...especially if you'll be jogging downhill with it!} Anyways, we decided to do a little something special for him but in a non-traditional way. Being so young, I figured money wouldn't mean a lot to him so, instead, I made out a ticket from the tooth fairy that allowed him to pick out one special toy from Toys 'R' Us. His lips have finally started getting back to normal size, so this morning I pulled out his tooth and we had a little discussion about what happened and why his tooth was now missing. Then, we gave him his ticket from the tooth fairy and made it a fun family outing!
We kept talking about going to the toy store and poor Landon thought we were saying Toy Story (his first movie to see in the theater) and just kept asking if we were going to see the big TV and if we could get popcorn. We made it to Toys 'R' Us before it opened so we stopped at Halfprice Books first. I found a very appropriate book for Landon that we read before naptime today...
Then, we finally made it to the toy store! What an overwhelming experience....for children and adults! We were in there for probably an hour.
Reid got comfy and enjoyed a little snack while we browsed.
Since we knew that Landon would not know how to go about picking out just ONE toy, we helped him a little bit. He (we) chose a fun matchbox car garage set! He's been very into cars lately so we thought he would enjoy this. After our toy store extravaganza, we made our way to El Fenix for a delicious, low-calorie lunch. Ok, it wasn't exactly low-cal...but it was good!!
Losing a tooth hasn't seemed to slow Landon down when it comes to munching on yummy foods!
And this little boy...
...is most definitely...
...going to be...
...our little ham...
...but oh, how I love him to pieces!
Even though Reid didn't lose a tooth (thank goodness) we felt he deserved a little something for the traumatic experience he also endured!
What a fun day with my 3 boys!!
